From ArtDeadline.Com's ArtBulletins Local Artist News
Jennifer F. Schlesinger is intrigued by discussion surrounding new technological image-making advances and their place within the fine art arena. She finds this reminiscent of early discussions about photography in the 1800’s when the art world was critical and apprehensive about calling the then new medium an art. This question merges itself into the making of her artwork and results in an investigation into Earth Studies- abstract imagery evocative of nature landscapes, creating what the artist calls Earth Patterns. The photographer captures images on photographic film, scans the prints or negatives, then digitally manipulates them. She then completes the photographic process by printing her images with CSI Lightjet printers which use tri-colored laser beams to expose digital files onto photographic paper (Fuji Crystal Archive), resulting in a photographic C-Print. Jennifer F. Schlesinger graduated from the College of Santa Fe with a BA in Photography and a minor in Journalism in 1998. She is a photographer working and living in Santa Fe, New Mexico as well as the Administrative Assistant for the Art and Science Laboratory.
